Full-Time Firefighter Job Posting

Position Title: Firefighter
The Firefighter must be able to perform the duties of a Firefighter. This includes operating in IDLH atmospheres and providing basic level emergency medical care and rescue services as needed.

  • Starting Salary: $50,462.00
  • Salary increases to $51,860.00 upon completion of 6-month probationary period and successful promotion to the Firefighter 1 Rank with the potential of $54,453.00(5%) with an AAS Degree or $57,046.00 (10%) with a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • After 12 months employees are eligible to promote to FF2. Upon successful promotion to FF2
    Salary increases to $60,004.00 with the potential of $63,004.00(5%) with a Fire Service Related
    AAS Degree or $66,004.00(10%) with a Fire Service Related Bachelor’s Degree.
Part-Time Firefighter Job Posting

Position Title: Part Time Firefighter
The Part Time Firefighter must be able to perform the duties of a Firefighter. This includes operating in IDLH atmospheres and providing basic level emergency medical care and rescue services as needed.

  • Starting Salary: $18.55 per hour
  • Part Time Salary Range: $18.55 – $22.55 per hour
    (Based on Years of Service or Certification and Qualification)
  • Gap Insurance is provided in addition to Workman’s Comp
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • 18 Years of Age or Older
  • High School Diploma
  • Certified NC Fire Fighter (Provide Copy of Certification Upon Submitting Application)
  • Certified NC EMT or able to obtain within 1 year of hire date 
  • Must Provide Copies of All Certifications Upon Submitting Application

Preferred Certifications but not required:

  • NC EMT
  • NC Driver Operator Pumps and Aerials
  • NC Technical Rescuer
  • NC Class B Driver’s License
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree (or Higher) in a Fire Rescue Related Field
  • Must Provide Copies of All Certifications and Licenses Upon Submitting Application
  • Station and Apparatus upkeep and basic maintenance
  • Common and accepted functions of Fire, Rescue, and EMT
  • Incident mitigation, Incident reporting, record keeping, public relations, and fire prevention
  • Perform additional tasks assigned through their chain of command
  • Application period: The application period will open on Thursday November 2nd, 2023, and close on Friday December 1st, 2023, at 5 pm.
  • Written and Physical Agility Testing Date: Saturday December 9th, 2023.  
  • Approved Candidates will be issued a test time via the email they provide on their application. 
  • Interviews: Eligible candidates will be contacted and given a date for interviews upon review of the written and physical agility testing process.
  • This is a Full-Time, 24-Hour Shift Based Position
  • 8 days off Each Tour of Duty ( Tour = 1 on, 1 off, 1 on, 2 off, 1 on, 1 off, 1 on, 4 off )

  • NC Office of State Fire Marshal Transcripts: Detailed Training Transcript, Summary Transcript, and Classes Remaining Transcript. These can be found and printed off the NCOSFM Website 
  • Copies of your ICS (NIMS) Certifications: 100,200,700,800, and others if you have them
  • Copies of all your Fire or Emergency Service Related Certifications (All Certifications)
  • Copy of your EMT Certification
  • Copy of your Driver’s License
  • Copy of your DD214 if currently serving or past Military Service
  • Attach / upload all of the above to your application before submitting
